You are warmly invited to come to the European Cultural Learning Network conference on Saturday 5th September at the Bernie Grant Centre, Tottenham, London from 10am- 12 noon ECLN. We are launching 3 Professional Development Awards for Cultural Learning Practitioners (Community, Participatory and Socially engaged Artists) at Apprentice, Competent and Expert levels. These are gained entirely through the recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning and are internally validated by peer review and externally validated through awards within National and European qualifications frameworks.
The Post Graduate Certificate equivalent qualification (60 Masters Level Credits) covers 4 key aspects of Cultural Learning Practice across Europe:
Artistic practice for Cultural Learning;
Sharing Knowledge and Skills in informal and non-formal contexts;
Developing Social Potential in informal and non-formal contexts;
Cultural Learning Leadership;
This is not a formal course or training programme but rather a process in which community/participatory/socially engaged artists claim for recognition and validation based on what they actually do in their work, what they have learned through their practice and their current professional understanding of the context, responsibilities and philosophies of their practice. This process is supported and reviewed by peer practitioners across Europe and validated and certificated by an external awarding authority working in the cultural and creative sector.
The conference will be informal and include different European perspectives in a discussion 'in the round' about the potential of these new qualifications for the sector e.g. employers, freelancers, policymakers, academics.
